This past week was very fun-filled! We had the privilege of going
on a field trip with Chef Bill to Belleville, PA for an Amish market. I enjoyed
getting to see a different culture and we were able to do some shopping at the
flea market. There was also a livestock auction that was pretty entertaining. Being
an Amish market, there were horse and buggies just about everywhere. I was
amused with the horses “parked” next to the market.

We also had a culinary challenge this week. Our final
project is planning a luncheon for all the staff members who have been involved
in our internship experience. The main entrée for the event is a salad and is
determined by the winner of the culinary challenge. The interns competed
against one another by making a salad with any choice of greens, a protein,
nuts, cheese, and homemade vinaigrette.

As luck would have it, I was chosen the winner! My arugula
salad will be served at the luncheon with a few tweaks and hopefully it will be
a hit!
