"Welcome to the Sunny South" UGA week 1

week 1 at UGA

Colleen and I arrived to the Sunny South June 4th. We made our voyages Colleen coming from Philly and Myself coming from Chicago to arrive at the Beautiful Myers hall. We were both very excited to arrive in Athens and start our internship.

We were very warmly welcomed by Kris (our boss) with wonderful UGA welcome packs!:

Shortly after arriving at UGA Colleen and I went Exploring through Campus and Athens

These are some of the beautiful buildings of the UGA campus:

This building is my favorite, beautiful! I love the stone pathway!

The UGA football stadium is right in the center of campus. This was something I found to be unique! Where I am from (Purdue University) the football stadium is in the corner of campus. At UGA you walk right by the beautiful football stadium, when you go through the center of campus. Colleen and I were very impressed to seeing this stadium especially in the center of campus like this.

Day 2 (6/7/13)
On the second day of our internship Colleen and I were very excited to get to go work on catering for a wedding on campus.  We spent our day seeing how catering orders get put together and working with several different people in the kitchen on putting the preparing the food for this order. Everyone we worked with was helpful, nice and fun to work with.
Chef Paul is one of the chefs in charge of catering. He was in charge of this particular wedding. He helped us put together the order, taught us how to make some delicious Grits. This was both Colleen and my self's first time making Grits. At the end of the day we delivered the food to The Botanical Gardens for the wedding and we got to see that aspect of catering an even as well.

Over all we had a great first week. The south is hotter and more humid than I am used to but everyone is nicer than I could have imagined. There is definitely truth to "Southern Hospitality"
