Week 8...The Grand Finale and Farewell to KU

Our last and final week here at KU was designated for our special event dinner that we had started planning on day 1 of our internship.   If anyone had been keeping up with our blogs you were already know that we picked the most exciting idea ever...the Amazon Jungle.  Now while we got the veto on bringing in live lions, tigers and monkeys to the dining center we think we did a pretty good job on bringing the Amazon right here to North College Cafe not to mention on a pretty tight budget.  Our recipes we had tested over the past few weeks finally came to life and we conquered our most feared recipe...making flan in muffin tins.  Yes, muffin tins but needless to say once we got it, it sold like hot cakes and guests whipped through 144 servings within 45 min.  Other dishes we prepared specifically for the dinner were fish tacos with a chipotle lime mayo, paella, and Brazilian fish stew.  We had over 300 people join us for the meal and everything went without a hitch.  A special thanks to all the people that helped us along the way and answered any questions we had as well as the staff at North College Cafe.  We couldn't have done it without you!  Here are some before and after pictures of the dining hall along with other pictures of the event.

Ever since day 1 of this internship, KU Dining made us feel like part of the family right away. The Wiscandians wanted to do everything we could to show how much we truly appreciated everything by throwing our Amazon Jungle special event dinner. We couldn't have asked for a more successful turnout of all our efforts! Everything from our advertisements to our specialized menus were truly appreciated by our customers and we received enough compliments that anyone could ask for! The Wiscandians want to thank KU Dining for all of their help and the hard work for making this special event and internship one that we will truly never forget. It's really sad saying bye to everyone and the Wiscandians are terrible at goodbyes.  But... all good things must come to an end. We met some life-long friends and some people that have influenced how we view our potential careers in a totally different perspective. A simple "Thank you" just does not cut it, but we do not know any other way to do it. We truly believe that KU Dining provides the most fulfilling and challenging internship that NACUFS has to offer and we encourage any potential candidates to pursue this internship. The Wiscandians have matured in their professional life and gained some experience that words simply cannot explain.

As sad as it is..... The Wiscandians are signing off.
THANK YOU KU Dining, we cannot thank you enough for an unforgettable experience!

  1. The food was amazing! As I have spent the last 8 weeks here as well, just doing something different than you all, last nights dinner was by far my favorite! All your hard work paid off! Kudos Jackson and Kevin!
